Re: Need help installing Myth 2
Also, see Pyro's thread with the correct MD5 hashes for all foundation tag files for pretty much any Myth II media you may come across: http://tain.totalcodex.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=6618 If the installer is failing due to scratches or deterioration of the CD-ROM, it's a good idea to make ...

Myth II on openSUSE 13.2 x86_64 DVD
As others have discovered over the last 1 1/2 years, the 32-bit support required to run Myth II in 64-bit Linux distributions is now considered to be a legacy item, and openSUSE 13.2 x86_64 DVD is no exception to the trend. The following notes indicate what was required to get Myth II Version 1.8.0 ...

Re: Myth II on Ubuntu 14.04
Also want to double check I have the latest 1.8 installed but the installer wont work because Error: Could not load library 'libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0' and that library doesn't seem to be available. Will try manual install. This is exactly the same issue slamelov reported in this thread last month: http:...

Re: Myth II 1.8 GNU/Linux installation
First, I would suggest that you post the contents of your myth_log.txt file so we can see it. It may give a clue as to the problem. This link MIGHT offer an explanation of the sound issue, assuming you have correctly installed the 32-bit libraries: http://dwarffortresswiki.org/index.php/DF2012:Insta...

Re: Myth II 1.8 GNU/Linux installation
toffuuu2010, As mentioned above in this thread, the general problem here is that you are trying to run a 32-bit application (the Myth 2 installer and Myth 2 itself) on a 64-bit Linux distribution, but you don't have the necessary 32-bit libraries installed (64-bit libraries are not sufficient). As n...

Re: Myth II 1.8 GNU/Linux installation
On my 64-bit openSUSE 12.3 system I have all of the following installed without issue: libgtk-2_0-0 libgtk-2_0-0-32bit libgtk-3-0 Looking at the Dependencies in the package manager, libgtk-2_0-0-32bit is the package that provides libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0. libgtk-2_0-0 provides a 64-bit version of that li...

Re: Myth II 1.8 GNU/Linux installation
Ahhh, but do you have the 32-bit library or the 64-bit library? I am guessing that you need to install the 32-bit version (or one that has 32-bit support). This sounds like a problem similar to the one I mentioned above with OpenAL.

Re: Touchpad on Windows 8 Issue
Some laptop users actually prefer not seeing cursor movement due to accidental touchpad contact while typing, so manufacturers have created control mechanisms to address this issue. Synaptics refers to the setting as PalmCheck, but other manufacturers may have different names for it. Here is how to ...

Feel free to fully integrate the information into your first post (with your own wording). Then Mel can delete all the posts after his, and the thread will be "clean(er)."

Re: Myth II 1.8 GNU/Linux installation
It works!. Glad to hear it. For the sake of completeness, I should mention that I initially did not have sound in openSUSE 12.3 x86_64 although myth_log.txt indicated that an OpenAL device was detected. The problem was that Myth II is a 32-bit application, but I only had 64-bit support through the ...

Re: Myth II 1.8 GNU/Linux installation
I see the same issue in openSUSE 12.3 x86_64. Selecting either the "OK" or "Select disc location" option and clicking OK does nothing except make that dialog screen go away. I should note that I use Dolphin to view the CD-ROM contents prior to performing the install, and that win...

Re: Has anyone installed on Linux lately?
I am not a Linux Mint user, but in openSUSE 11.4 I can successfully use either of the two methods you are trying to use. If I extract the archive contents, then I get a directory called "files" and an executable called "installer." Then I can just left-click the installer icon, a...
