Does this even require a review? It's the official expansion pack, after all, and lives up to the standards set by Bungie in the original campaigns. Great new units, great gameplay (a bit repetitive, people often complain--if it were any longer that might bother me, but over eight levels I still find it engaging and addictive), and some of the best meshes ever made. It feels a little darker than Myth II, which suits me just fine. One of the top five Myth solo campaigns, alongside Seventh God, Jinn, and TFL and Soulblighter themselves.

The Good: Chimera has a stunning atmosphere, nice new units and beautiful maps. It is an original Bungie product and there can be no doubt of its high quality.

The Bad: Most levels are very linear and dont give you much options. There are also some key situations where you need a lot of luck to survive which can be very frustrating. I always find that Chimera has been developed with the intention to put visual content above gameplay.

If you play myth, this plugin is a must have. It is just as fun as the single player campaigns for Myth and Myth2. It is however much harder than them, and the first level can be very frustrateing.

While a lot of effort, and detail went into making this large campaign, and even though it's definitely worth trying out and playing, I find the quality of some of the levels and storyline to be inferior to the original Bungie M2 levels and some high quality third party creations.

So in summary, it's definitely worth checking out and playing. But it doesn't live up to the original Bungie levels overall (though some of the levels are pretty good - but not all).

The closest thing we will ever get to a Bungie expansion pack to Myth.

This plugin has some of the highest quality colormaps and level design out of all of the plugins available to Myth players. In addition to this, the story telling is nearly as good as Myth 1 and Myth 2 itself, with original characters and locations, but all of which feel at home in the Myth world.

The voice acting is done by some of the more famous people behind the Myth series of games, which in it of itself isn't a bad idea, but they are not voice actors, which leads to a poor performance, and makes some of the cut scenes and journal entries hard to take seriously.

Chimera is also short, clocking at 8 levels. However, these levels are multipathed, and have a lot of variety so it's not unheard of to think about playing it over again later.

The new units are quite well done in this, and seem well with old units from Myth 2, rather then a lot of plugins were it's obvious what was added.

The ending is pretty abrupt, so be prepared for that. In the end though, none of what I said should deter you from at least trying this, as it's quality stuff. One of the best Myth 2 campaigns available for download.

I found Chimera to be a welcomed addition to the Myth canon. I thoroughly enjoyed how Chimera had a more Gothic feel to it, making it stand out from Myth I & 2. The campaign was challenging, fun, and had memorable characters. I enjoyed every new unit and environment that Chimera had to offer. I especially enjoyed the fifth level because of its graveyard setting!

While it is an expansion and a mod for Myth II, I see it as a mini-sequel. All die-hard Myth fans owe to themselves to enjoy Chimera. In my opinion, it is the most impressive and unique mod out there!
