Here's an idea, since we have a fair percentage of international players...if a player mostly chats in a certain language, let them set a pref (like, say, Italian), and if a player has a preferred reading language (say, English)...the chat function automatically invokes Google Translate on the typed chat.
There'd be a button so if they're temporarily typing in a new language, they could indicate so, if they want.
Could also maybe try Google's auto-detect language.
And, since you may read multiple languages at varying ability, or the person may be typing in another language briefly but didn't tell Myth that, there could be an option that when someone with non-matching language prefs chats, Myth gives it to you twice...once raw, once translated.
Or, another method...set your preferred reading language, all chat comes to you raw, and there's a button that lets you either auto-detect & translate, or indicate language and translate.

Re: Chat foreign language Google Translate?
I guess it's not gonna happen. Afaik there's still no way to even copy and paste from or to the chat window (not sure about mythchat or the various 'who's online' apps).
Re: Chat foreign language Google Translate?
Or people could stop chatting so much and just play Myth.
Re: Chat foreign language Google Translate?
The way Myth displays text is through its font tags. The font tags do not support every character possible, so even if this was doable it would be quite limited. This chart shows the characters Myth uses with a few differences such as 240 being empty and 255 being the blinking block where new characters are added in chat.
