How do you alter a map - So that you can zoom out further?

What do you change to be able to zoom out further? Is it the ceiling, the mesh paramaters, or something else??
The camera is too close to this map :(

Alter your displacement map. The easiest way to do this (providing models arent placed...if they are you will have to place them again..) is to simply export your displacement map, change the brightness in photoshop to make it several tones darker...then re-import it. It will lower...experiment some to find what you like best. Keep in mind that if you have water you will also have to lower your water levels.

Ozone has a very good method for making precise adjustments to displacement maps, so e-mail him if you need some additional help.

The camera height can't be altered in normal gameplay, though it is possible to extend its fixed up upward dramatically with the mesh. This isn't practical for anything in game because it restricts the camera's movement, but it can useful for special functions like cutscenes or screenshots that need to cover a very large portion of the map.

As a general rule, don't drop the mesh lower than about -7, otherwise you'll start seeing some bad clipping issues with the graphics.

If you have models placed on a mesh which needs to be lowered (or raised), you don't have to delete the models and re-place them, you can just select one model at a time and use the Set Model Location command in Loathing.

[color=DFC99B]Been awhile, and as was mentioned, if models or media are already on the map, those will have to be redone/reset as well. OK . . .

In Loathing, select Maps>>Displacement Map>>Edit Range, when the Edit Displacement window comes up, set the Lower Bound to -10.00 and the Upper Bound to 10.00 then click OK.

Now choose Maps>>Displacement Map>>Export and save the Displacement Map somewhere where you can ezily relocate it.

Again, choose Maps>>Displacement Map>>Edit Range, now set the Lower Bound to -15.00 and the Upper Bound to 5.00 and click OK.

Almost there now, Maps>>Displacement Map>>Import, now find and select the Displacement Map you just exported 2 steps ago and click OK.

VIOLA!! The mesh will now be 5 World Units lower than previously. :o)

The Key is to make certain you set the Lower and Upper Bounds before exporting the Displacement Map, then just equally remove from the Upper Bound what you give to the Lower Bound and reimport.

A few things to be aware of however, lower the mesh too much and you will get nasty mesh rippage in any media in the map, and having the terrian lower shows more map, more units, more scenery, projectiles, etc etc, therefore Myth has to work harder and may cause some loss in FPS, and of course, then you can no longer zoom IN as close as before. ;op
