It won't even require much Loathing work once 1.7 is out. But yea if you really want to use scripting, that's easy to do as well. By the time all these models are done, animated, ambered, feared, and pluginized I think 1.7 would at least be close to being released if not already by then. Either way I can do that as well, if wanted. That way you can make a tagset out of this that not only would it be useful so other mapmakers don't need to include them into their plugins but also replace the default Myth 2 units.

OO OO OO!

Can you or would you have an animation of them drawing the swords out of their sheaths on their back? maybe for taunt or something?

its kinda pointless, but it bugs me all people in myth just run around holding their weapons in hand all the time.

besides, the normal heron taunt is pretty weak in myth anyways.

Just post everyone who is supposed to have access to the M3 stuff, and let's work to get all the information we can on them and then brainstorm a way to contact them.

We're getting that stuff, one way or another.

M3 stuff? I think you posted in the wrong thread. This one is about new high res versions of the Myth 2 units.

Indeed. This is for the new stuff Hooligan is making.

Godz, are you referring to the TFL/M2 models by any chance? To me it'd make little sense trying to get the M3 models... we can already do that!
Okay I got the models but now I'm too dumb to do anything with 'em

Some, like tree giant, trow will have two for small guys, two for large
Do you mean 2 unique attacks per, or the standard right/left punch/kick?

Ghol vs Ghol myth 2 close up of models box art

Post by Renwood TWA »

I belive this is in fact the Myth TFL ghol model shown and not a myth 2 ghol.

I can tell easy by the cleaver's style.

Heres the link to the pic hosted on our site:

I am trying to do whatever original attacks i have seen from the cheracters, like herons using both swords, then just the rear hand sword, plus new animations that i think would make sense for that cheracter and look like something that kind of cheracter would try to do in the middle of a melee.

So, i wouldnt have a toon try to do a kick, for instance, when they have a sword and shield in their hands. Warriors are burdened with these shields, so they are going to be limited in the attacks they use. Also, no show-boating. no drop to one knee as you spin and stab in the guts.

That might be interesting to see once in a while, but in a standard battle, it doesnt make sense that it would be one of the four most common attacks a guy uses in the front lines of a melee. Know what i mean?

I am close to posting a video showing the first super rough animms of the Heron attacks. The first attack, double sword is pretty close to finished, the others all need work.

Looking good though.

In the meantime Hooligan, start thinking about Behind the Scenes screenshots.

Some test renders.

Here's what the animations are looking like right now.

OK, what besides dropping everything to 256 colors do i have to do to prep these for Amber.

They need to be .gif
They need to be 256 colors
will be rendered at 350 by 350

do you need two color variants, like seen in the game?
or, do i need to make a key color to swap out for team colors?

Key colours, definitely. If you look at any Bungie unit they're all in bright cyan and fluro green.

They have to be BMP not GIF. And yes the colors have to be something like a light green, cyan, and/or pink. Any part of the image that you wish to change color for the sake of variety should be made into a color like one of those. There are a few other colors that work as well. At the least, you want two general colors. These being for primary and secondary colors units use for multiplayer.

By the way do you plan on having the flags more like Myth 2 or Myth 3? This image shows an example of the re-rendered Heron Guard Iron made. Also, you may notice that there are three "plates" on the arms instead of just two.

This next image shows you the actual size samples of the Bungie Heron Guard and Iron's re-render.

I am not an animation expert by any stretch of the imagination but those movement sequences look very smooth - and very mythlike!

Keep up the good work!
