No sound?

Post by killerking »

Hi guys,

I just installed myth on my new pc by copying the folder with executable , plugins and everything directly to my new PC (from my old laptop).
Everything works well, except for the sound. There's absolutely no in game sound or menu music. Tried to press f4/f5 in game, change the setting in the preferences but didn't help. Posted my myth log below, perhaps anyone here knows a solution?
p.s. I still own the original cd but my new pc doesn't have an optical drive.

Now that I take a closer look, I see this:
Initializing sound with OpenAL...
OpenAL: OpenAL library not found. Sound will be disabled.
OpenAL initialization failed.
But how do I fix that?

Edit: fixed, downloaded OpenAL, was simple to find it on google

You can also switch to DirectSound in preferences. DirectSound is part of Windows so it should always be available. (It's also the default on a new install, I'm not sure how your setting got set to OpenAL if you didn't do it yourself)

Well, I have an idea on that one Melekor. As my PC has no disk drive / optical drive, I just copied the whole Myth II folder from my old laptop onto an external HD, then transferred that to the hard drive on my new pc. It's possible that I used the setting on my old laptop.
