Can't import collections or images on Mac El Captain. Running myth 1,8.1

Any thoughts?

check the file format
indexed colors etc...
.bmp .pct .png loathing and oak I believe have changed what file formats they prefer... and I think newer macs don't deal with .pct anymore by default
