Distance to take the artifact

There is one question regarding artifacts.

Can somehow increase the radius of taking artifacts, and even the characters can take artifacts only if they stand very close to them? I need for them to be taken away from 5-10 steps.

Using scripting to can give or take away artifacts depending on the distance if you wanted.
