Mythgraveyard update

Post by vinylrake »

Not that there's been a huge (translation "any") demand for this, but the Myth Graveyard has been redesigned to be more 'responsive' - e.g. it works fairly well with phones and tablets and other non-computer-monitor-standard screen sizes.

I also reorganized the navigation (navbar) a bit but all the content is where it always was - old links will still work.

As always - if anyone notices anything broken please let me know.

Also, for anyone thinking of trying their hand at a responsive design web site - having suffered through several attempts to make a responsive theme from scratch, from templates, and from trying to cobble one together from other successful sites and code samples I can't recommend twitter's 'bootstrap' css and js framework highly enough. It's a LOT of css, but it's the easiest way I've ever seen to code a responsive page. I converted the myth graveyard site over to the bootstrap architecture/framework and had it up and running in less than an hour. Of course the site is db based so there were only two HTML page templates that needed to be converted, and it took me longer to make the site LOOK close to how I wanted it - but after a few days playing around to grok the underlying structure and how the pieces fit together, I was able to customize the MythGraveyard to look like the MythGraveyard instead of a generic bootstrap site using a single additional css file of less than 200 lines of css.

I thought this used to be available @ the MythGraveyard but I couldn't find it, so I resurrected the old website for "The Tharsis Times", including the MythClips image gallery/repository.
