Re: Speaking of TFL
I had all the old TFL tools on my Sheepshaver install, probably used that - if not then it was Bartok or MythTech or something similar :) They all used to be hosted here: http://www.udogs.net/home/gfa/mapediting/index.html but now the links are dead. Anyway, the problem wasn't getting the height map...

Re: Speaking of TFL
Godz I have no idea what you're talking about. Anyway, the difficulty was in reliably extracting all the info from the TFL mesh. The colormap etc wasn't a problem as Amber could load TFL collections & export the map, but I couldn't get TFL Loathing to work in Sheepshaver. It required Macsbug, wh...

Re: Speaking of TFL
Years back I actually started work on a 2nd TFL map pack for Myth 2, but it fell in a hole because (a) TFL Loathing didn't work in Sheepshaver and (b) I lost interest... Technology-wise if someone could export reliable heightmaps from the TFL meshes, recording the height settings so they could be im...

Re: Using hannibal tactics in Civil war game
More about the crescent tactic & its use in history: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pincer_movement Btw I think you would have won that 1st battle with a standard long line (or lines). It wasn't the formation that gave you victory, but the fact that all your units were in place ready to unleash th...

Re: Myth 1.8 suggestions REVISITED
What I like about the KotM suggestion is that it could possibly (hopefully!) be made to use Terries flags. In other words, every map that supports Terries would also support the new gametype with no changes required.

Re: Myth 1.8 suggestions REVISITED
From a MWC thread: By the way, if everyone wants a good idea to really add something new and awesome, here is one: Make a new gametype, call it King of the Map It works just like a combination of territories and king of the hill. Territories flags, king of the hill time keeping for all of them. Go s...

Re: Myth 1.8 suggestions REVISITED
Its not just the splash screen - if a larger size was introduced it'd have to be supported right through the whole user interface. As Myth's dialog system was created with fixed pixel locations & sizes for each element, that would not be a trivial challenge to support programmatically, to say no...

Re: Myth 1.8 suggestions REVISITED
How about ... the ability to join games that are running if there's an empty slot (you're assigned to a team) - would need a host option to allow it. Additionally, the ability to request the next map on an autohost so its not stuck at an unpopular one no-one wants to play. With those 2 things in pla...

Re: Bowman question
Yeah its a path we trod down back with 1.4, and we've been trying to rectify it ever since. If its difficult convincing veteran players that gameplay bugs should be fixed, consider how much more dangerous it is to introduce "enhancements".

Re: Bowman question
You can't do it, and no it was never possible. The Myth engine treats "Melee" units differently AI-wise than it does "Missile" units. A Melee unit will aggressively respond to an enemy - even if it has a distance attack (such as the bre'Unor) it will steadily close the distance t...

For extra lols you could always try 101, 201, 301, 401 etc - they'll give the level name a different colour in the menu

Re: Green Berets 1.2 Problems
Here are a plugin maker's options: A. Let them auto attack, and often kill each other. Really really frustrating if you've been playing for a while, and one of your units auto attacks and kills one of your units, or a teammate. B. Don't let them auto attack, and enemies will run up an kill you, if ...

Re: Looking For a certain Bungie video. The History of
Yes there really ought to be a video repository for myth-related things, whether official interviews like that or notable fan-made creations. I remember an old early-2000s era flash vid featuring dancing mauls, warlocks flying on a fireball, Pallor singing & other stuff, very funny it was. Could...
