Re: Mariusnet offline

FINAL UPDATE! Replacement parts are installed. Server is in place in its new datacenter. The metaserver is up and running on its new IP. The database has been restored and I am in the process of getting the website back online. The new IP of the metaserver is: 199.223.248.179 I've messaged Conner a...

Re: Mariusnet offline

UPDATE: Server is in hand. The apparent cause of the hardware malfunction is identified, a replacement part is being overnighted, and I'm already working with the new (local) datacenter guys to get things prepped so that I can hand-deliver the repaired server to its new home. For anyone that is curi...

Re: Mariusnet offline

Sounds like you had a pretty robust setup Not robust enough, apparently. It was dual Xeon E5410's on a Supermicro X7DBE-O board w/ IPMI card and 16GB ram. Areca ARC-1220 controller (w/ battery backup) and eight 750GB drives, RAID-6, all stuffed into a Supermicro 2U chassis.... and all for naught. S...

Re: Mariusnet offline

Good News: The server has had connections to it made and power applied. I can even remotely access the console via IPMI. Bad News: It may be completely worthless. It is telling me "Operating System Not Found", meaning that it may well have died in transit. Still working the issue. RAID car...

Re: Mariusnet offline

Unfortunately, no new updates, yet. I do know that the server is in the possession of the new datacenter, at least. We're just waiting for them to have someone actually wheel it over to a rack and slide it in and connect three cables. Heck, I don't even need them to hit the power button, I can do th...

Re: Mariusnet offline

I am, literally, just waiting impatiently for word from the tech that the machine has been moved and is plugged in. ::impatiently tapping foot and glaring at his watch:: At least on my machine, DNS has already updated for myth.mariusnet.com, without any Hosts files trickeration... so, as soon as we ...

Re: Mariusnet offline

lol :) No upgrades will be taking place during this downtime.... moving datacenters is enough for me, right now ;) For anyone that wants to get back onto the metaserver right away when it is alive again, you can edit your Hosts file and create an entry for myth.mariusnet.com myth.mariusnet.com 204.8...

Re: Mariusnet offline

UPDATE: The outage is expected to begin between 1:00-2:00pm CST tomorrow; thus the site will still be up in the morning. The machine will be moved into its new home within a few hours of that, and things will begin to slowly start working some time after that. For some, the total downtime may be jus...

Re: Mariusnet offline

The server will be offline tomorrow morning, but it will be alive in its new datacenter sometime tomorrow night. Basically, things will return to normal as quickly as I can get DNS to update. I'm pretty much just waiting on the new IP Addresses to get that ball rolling. I'll post updated info here a...

Ditto this. I don't know if it is a Vista thing or a threading thing (I'm on a quad core), but it *really* ruins things. I don't recall it happening under XP, but I also didn't have a Quad-core under XP.

I'm not certain, but I think that it requires buying a new copy.

That said, I don't think there is anything from preventing you from just copying stuff over and then extracting files from the latest Updater.... I would think that it would work.

Oh, it's possible... and even on Conner's 1.7 wishlist.

We should maybe bug that other guy that is in this thread about it ;) ;) ;)

heh. what would be REALLY geeky (and unnecessarily detailed) would if the mariusnet feed passed information about which plugins were being used in currently active games - that way when you were reading a description of a map or a plugin, it could show you how many (if ever greater than zero) peopl...
